The Larabar Santa Came Today!

Around 1:30 most days you can find me running down 4 flights of stairs to get my mail. I am always excited when there is something other than bills in the stack of mail.

When I opened up the mailbox today, there was a surprise package from Larabar!  I found myself running back up the stairs in hot pursuit of some scissors to crack the box open.

Lo and behold a Christmas card and tasty treat from the company that makes ‘real food‘.

Yum! I love, love, love coffee!

The card had a very festive message.

We hope you are having a merry and bright holiday season. We also hope you are resting up and re-energizing for the New Year.

As for us, we are looking forward to kicking off 2012 with our newest flavor…Cappuccino! Its our very own house blend of dairy-free Joe.

Enjoy the Treats!

Don’t mind if I do!

When they sent me the Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte I was over the moon about the taste. Seeing how much I love coffee, I couldn’t wait until my next meal. I immediately ripped open a bar and ate half of one on the spot.

  • Taste - Smooth and refreshing, not overtly ‘coffee’. I think a dash of chocolate would be nice, but I suppose that would make it a mocha bar, now wouldn’t it?
  • Smell – Mmm! As soon as you open the wrapper you are transported to a fabulous coffee shop.
  • Texture – Smooth with a few bumps from the almonds and cashews, but it gives some crunch to the bar which is nice.
  • Nutrition – Protein 5 grams, Carbs 22 grams, Fat 10 grams, Calories 200.
  • Ingredients – Dates, almonds, cashews, coffee, and vanilla extract.

I give Cappuccino 3 out of 5 stars.

I fell in love HARD with the Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte. Let’s be honest, its hard to replace a first love. The Cappuccino bar is tasty, but it is not calling my name from the pantry. That being said, this is probably a good thing and in my world that should bump it up to 4 out of 5 stars.

Larabar is a fabulous treat made out of real food, so honestly you can’t go wrong with any of the flavors.

What’s your favorite bar? Do you eat Larabars?

Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte Anyone?

When I checked my mailbox this morning there was a surprise package waiting for me. Usually I am tortured with flyers and bills, but not today.

It wasn’t even a mistake since it had my name on it.

Larabar

Such a cute little box!

I mean, how many Donloree Hoffmans are there in the world?

You bectcha – just one.

But what in the world could it be?

New shoes?!?!

Apparently Larabar sent me samples of their new Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte bar. What girl doesn’t like free samples?

I LOVE free samples.

Let’s just say there is a reason I go to Costco right when they open. Those sample ladies with their atrocious red outfits are just setting up and it means I don’t have to sprint past 12 tables of tempting, free food.

Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte…mmm…sounds tasty, but is it?

Let’s sample it together, shall we?

Real food!

I give this a big thumbs up and am going to be chowing down one after I finish training arms tomorrow.

What’s your favorite ‘bar’?

‘Planty’ – Video Review of Vega Sport Protein

I am on the hunt for a non dairy protein powder. Recently I cut all dairy out due to ‘bloatation‘ issues. For awhile there it was looking like I was training for a Good Year Blimp Competition, not a Figure Competition.

The dairy went buh-bye  and my waistline came back.

In my ‘sans dairy‘ approach to life I came across Vega Sport protein powder. All plant based and protein, this could not be better!

So if you want something ‘planty‘ in your life; give Vega Sport a try.

Meanwhile, I still am on the hunt for a good protein powder.

Any suggestions?

I may just find my way back to whey!

Savi Seed Review Redux

Awhile back I tried some Savi Seeds, hated them, and wrote a review about how they smelled like my great grandmother’s mothball filled closet.

Then the Savi Seed lovers came out to comment.

I wondered if I did indeed get a bad package… perhaps they are fabulous

So I tried them again today.

I am not too proud to admit when I am wrong; but in this case I was right!

Have you tried Savi Seeds? If so, what did you think?
